Current Developments in the Chemical Plastics Recycling Industry

The chemical plastic recycling industry is at an interesting crossroads. While mechanical recycling has been established for years, the path forward for chemical recycling of mixed waste plastics remains unclear.

At the Plastics Recycling World Expo, we observed that although some promising technologies have been demonstrated on a small or lab scale, it's still being determined which ones will succeed on an industrial scale, whether it's in the field of solvolysis, pyrolysis, or gasification. However, it's evident that these technologies' scalability depends on each plant and needs to be re-evaluated case by case.

Interestingly, many non-EU countries, such as India, Qatar, and Turkey, show significant interest in these technologies, reflecting the global demand for solutions.

We at aixprocess see an opportunity to contribute through CFD analysis and simulation to help optimize these emerging processes. Our scalable cyclone separators can also be crucial in ensuring stable and efficient operation. By validating our models against lab-scale results, we aim to predict outcomes on an industrial scale confidently.
